Holga 120N

I recently purchased a Holga 120N, pictured below.

I took my first roll of medium format film and had it developed at Redlands Color Lab. I scanned in a couple negatives to see how they turned out.

I have to say, this little toy camera takes some pretty cool pictures. I photoshopped it a little for color but the grain is all natural. Pretty cool stuff.

Dane Sanders hosts a SPM (simple photo minute) over at www.simplephotolife.com/blog about the Holga 120. The SPM was done by Peter Thomsen and the video can be see here.

Fun with friends

This last weekend a bunch of us got to hang out and check out the house Brad and Jenn have put an offer on. Hopefully they will hear back soon so they can get started on the long process of redoing it. Good luck you two:) Anyway, here are a few pictures from this weekend.

Camping Trip

Friday afternoon, Stephanie and I headed up the mountain to Hurkey Creek. The closest town is Idyllwild where we spent out 5 year anniversary. We arrived around 5 p.m. and Brad and Jenn already had their 5th wheel set up.

When we got there, Brad and Eric were out for a short mountain bike ride. Friday evening was relaxing, sitting around the camp fire talking till around 10 p.m. or so.

Sabbath morning we got up, made breakfast then Brad, Eric, and I went for a 5 mile ride. I have not been out in a while so I was quite tired. We got back to camp, relaxed some more then started to make lunch. A few more people showed up for lunch, Duncan, Mike, Jeff, the Gustafsson's, Joe and his wife, and Joe's friend Chad. After lunch, all the guys, minus myself, went for the 10 mile bike ride. I was just too tired and wanted to relax.

The afternoon came and went along with another great day of camping. Most of the day visitors left late afternoon while the Gustafsson's stayed till about 11 p.m. Brad, Jenn, Stephanie, and I stayed up a little longer then decided it was time for bed.

Sunday was relaxing. Breakfast, lounging, a short bike ride with Brad, more relaxing, then packing up our stuff to head home. We finally left the campsite at 3:15 while Brad and Jenn stayed for one more day. Brad's birthday is tomorrow so this was his weekend:)

All in all, it was a great relaxing weekend with good friends. We hope to do it again next month when we can all go and camp.

The Camry

We picked up the Camry last night after 2 weeks of being in the shop. They forgot to fix the A/C so we are taking it back next week. At that time they will adjust a few things and make a few touch ups to the paint. It's nice to have it back. The Jeep is fun but the Camry is so quiet and comfy. The door looks really good. I wish the whole car looked that good. Fresh paint is really nice.

Hurkey Creek camping

Stephanie and I are heading out this afternoon to camp at Hurkey Creek with our friends Brad and Jenn. Tomorrow the rest of the group will join us. The guys will also take a liesurely ride on the mountain bike trail. It's one of the best trails around, at least that I have been on. Although I have not been on a lot:) It should be a fun weekend out in nature. I will be taking my cameras along so I will try to post some photos of the weekend on Monday.

Have a wonderful weekend and I will talk to you all later.

Tami's Wedding

Here are a few more of Tami's wedding.

Stay away from the bears

The night of July 31, while we were sleeping at our campsite, a friendly bear paid our Camry a little visit in the parking lot of the Yosemite Lodge.

You can see the paw prints on the side of the door and Stephanie standing there in dismay. It didn't hurt the inside and left no marks on the paint. It is currently in the shop getting fixed. Insurance did question it though as they probably don't get that kind of claim very often. Let's hope this never happens again. It happened to a couple other cars the same night. I'm glad he didn't have something just against us.

Vacationers from MD

On the 25th of July, my best friend Robbie and his wife Darlene flew out from MD to spend a week with us. We got to go to Sea World, the beach, the Hollywood Bowl for the Sound of Music, then spent a couple days in Yosemite. It was great having them here and wish we could do it more often.

10 Year Alumni

Here are a few random pictures from my trip to Maryland in May for my 10 year alumni.

Tami

I have to go back a ways and share some other photos I took of Tami before her big day. The rings shot were done right after the ring arrived in CA after being sized in TN where the special moment actually happened. The others were taken here in Redlands, CA a couple months before her wedding day.

Sabbath, August 5th

While my wife was in Nashville for a week on business, my good friends Brad and Jenn had me over. It was nice to hang out and look at pictures and video of Tami and Keith's wedding. Thanks for the hospitality you two. This picture of Brad and Jenn is from Tami and Keith's wedding.

July 23 wedding

My second opportunity for second shooting was a couple weeks ago in Northern California. It was located in beautiful Sonoma County, wine country at it's finest. One of our friends found love in Tennessee so has now left us for a new adventure. May God bless you both as you start your new life together. I will have to post more pictures later.

July 9 wedding

I was able to assist with a wedding on July 9th here in Loma Linda. Natan Vigna was the main photographer. You can view his work at http://www.discovernewviews.com/. It was my first time second shooting and it was a lot of fun and it was a start in the right direction for learning.

Thanks for the opportunity Natan.
